Tub Drain Installation
Since there's only a few pictures here, you might think this was an easy segment of the job. Well, it took a while to get it done but most of the time was spent making trips to Home Depot, trying to find the parts that would suit our needs. You all know what the Home Depot looks like, so I didn't bother taking pictures of that part. :-)
We had terrible problems with the previous drain. It was put together using threaded iron pipe which meant that we could not take it apart to clean it. And of course, since it was iron its inside diameter had been reduced due to corrosion. It was a slow drain, and no amount of drain cleaner seemed able to fix that.
Getting the drain onto the tub was a challenge. It was definately a two-person job.
Our new drain is made of ABS and features a union fitting and a banded coupler, which means we should have no problems taking it apart for cleaning.
